Flâneur

Fragments of a Flâneur in the Machine’s Dust

Flâneur invites visitors to explore the slow, poetic drift of a figure wandering through the dust of algorithms and the artefacts of modernity. The installation is inspired by the concept of the flâneur: a solitary walker in the bustling arcades of 19th-century Paris, as described by philosopher Walter Benjamin. The installation reimagines this iconic figure in the age of artificial intelligence and virtuality.

In Flâneur, the walker is no longer fully human: AI-generated, fragmented, automated, and dissolved into a stream of data. Visitors enter a virtual gallery where visuals and soundscapes shift in response to their movements. Visitors move, influence the appearance of the space and the soundscape, watching the figure dissolve into clouds of particles.

What is the flâneur made of when the world turns into data ?
